Fish & Men Premieres & Wins

Fish & Men premiered in October at the 2019 New Hampshire Film Festival in Portsmouth. Having heard so much about that New England foliage, I knew I had to go.

There ended up being a big windstorm the day before the festival and most of the foliage was knocked down. So I had to settle for a weekend of movies and filmmaker meet-ups.

After long days in a grey dark edit suite, it’s always exciting to see your work in dark crowded theater. The audience laughed, gasped, and groaned at all the right places. It short: they got it and they liked it.

Now that’s a real smile.

Fish & Men won the Audience Choice Award for Documentary! The award itself is made of solid granite and claimed to be the heaviest in the industry. As the editor, I don’t get to keep it. So it worked out well, because my luggage was already close to the 50 lb limit. Thank you, New Hampshire!
