About the Process: The original opening of the film, as written and shot, was an elaborate sequence showing how Beth's (Amy Seimetz) father was killed. While we played with seeing who and who did not kill him, the mere presence of the scene gutted the tension in the film because we knew his death was intentional. We were wrapped with no funds to do a pick up shoot. Using location photography and voice-over, the director and I created a new beginning which teased the antagonist who wouldn't be seen for twenty minutes and set the underlying style and tone of the film.
